Mutton Dak Bungalow is a famous colonial-era meat curry from Bengal. It originated in rural government rest houses called dak bungalows (where dak means mail). Local caretakers (khansamahs) cooked this hearty, mildly spiced dish for traveling British officials using readily available local ingredients like mutton, potatoes, and whole eggs.
